Birsa Agricultural University is a state government University that was established in 1981 in Ranchi. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The University offers UG, PG, PhD, diploma and certificate programmes in several streams, such as Agriculture, Forestry, Biotechnology, Horticulture, Dairy Technology and more. It also offers an Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) programme which is sponsored and managed by the Department of Science & Technology for the attraction of talent to Science. The University has a total of 12 constituent colleges, including College for Bio-Technology, College of Fisheries Science, Agriculture College, Tilka Manjhi Agriculture College, College of Horticulture, etc.
It also provides e-learning facilities to the students through its collaboration with ISRO, IndianJournals.com, Virtual Labs, e-GRANTH, Science Direct, e-Agriculture, etc. Apart from this, the University has also collaborated with several NGOs, including RK Mission, Holy Cross Polytechnic, TSRDS, PDSV, SPSM, AVP, Vikas Bharti, etc.
